Then start with a mentor. Mentor Match gives you two one-hour sessions with an Industry Expert who does the job you are moving toward: a clear view of where you stand, a direction, and a written plan. Book the evaluation when you are ready, or never. The plan is yours either way.

Is it worth the cost?
You are buying two hours of an Industry Expert's time. Ninety minutes one on one, and another thirty spent writing it up, skill by skill, after you leave. Ask anyone twelve to twenty years into your field what two hours of their undivided attention is worth, then look at the price. All inclusive: the evaluation, the written assessment, the recording, your development plan, and your 4D Scorecard, valid for twelve months.
